Wm Kerr Snake & Red Spinel Bracelet
This vintage William Kerr snake buckle has been repurposed to hold fifteen strands of intense red spinel gemstones.
The 1890’s sterling snake is one half of a belt buckle to which I have attached sterling eyelets to hold the gemstone strands. At one time, the snake had a gold wash, which has faded and worn in some places, leaving a slight gold tone to the piece. I replaced the missing stone in the eye of the snake with a natural ruby. The piece measures 2.5″ in length x 2″ in width at the widest point.
The spinel gems are a rich, intense red and have much depth in the color. If you are not familiar with red spinel, it is often confused with ruby and is featured in many famous and well-known jewelry collections, world-wide.The gems are slightly graduated in size on each strand and are approximately 2.5mm to 3.5mm in size. Finished with sterling findings and a locking, sterling slide tube clasp. I have added a ring to the mouth of the snake where a red spinel briolette now hangs.
This piece is already finished and will fit a 6.5″ to a 6.75″ wrist. Please see wrist measurement for measuring and size information. The sizing is based on the circumference of your wrist 2.5″ down from the top of the knob on your wrist toward your elbow.
