This Victorian lava cameo is a raised relief carving of the goddess Psyche, the Greek goddess of the soul who was married to Eros or Cupid, the god of love. You can see butterfly wings adorn her hair. The cameo has been set in sterling and repurposed to hold 15 strands of off white freshwater pearls and a rare green sapphire that is a soft sage in color. Lava cameos were very popular in the Victorian era when British ladies would go on ‘Grand Tour’ of Europe. When they visited Pompeii, they would purchase hand-carved cameos from Mt. Vesuvio lava. Some would have cameos carved in their own likeness, sometimes as a Roman goddess. This is one of those souvenirs. This bracelet just needs your wrist size to be finished with sterling French wire, crimps, and a locking slide tube clasp.
Please add your wrist measurement in the “Order Notes” during checkout.
