This is a rare, pre-1948 piece from the Taxco artisan Johanna Von Ryn, who lived in Mexico in the 40’s and created a limited number of pieces, all of which are highly collectable. This piece is made up of 7 concentric circular, hollow links. It’s in good condition considering its age. I had to have it professionally cleaned because the piece was very tarnished.
There is still a small bit of black tarnish on 2 of the links. There is also a slight dent to one of the links. The box clasp is tight and secure and I will provide a safety chain, as the original is long gone. Whomever soldered the attachment rings, probably at a later date, did not do a very clean job.
Width: 1 1/16″
Length: 7.5″ wearable length
Weight: 50 grams
Hallmark: Johanna Von Ryn, Mexico, Silver.
Marked only ‘Silver’, but tests as sterling, which is not unusual, as Taxco did not necessarily label sterling as such in very early pieces.
